She could tell that he was thinking about something, he had that reflective look in his eyes as he stayed quiet for a moment. True its not like they were old friends and had anything to catch up on, that could explain any reason for a low conversation. But she knew that look so well, she had had that look herself many times before. Whenever she was reflecting on when she found out she was pregnant or what she decided to do when her parents said she had to get rid of it. Yeah, she was no stranger to getting lost in your own thoughts. She had zoned out actually for a moment thinking about the fact that he was thinking.
"Nice to meet you too sweetheart" he said. She looked at him for a moment slightly surprised by his choice in words. The guys around here didn't say things like that unless they were a creepy old guy and the young man before her was none of those things. She smiled at him momentarily but that faltered when he asked about her paper.
"Oh, its about the lasting effects of WWI and how that would later influence WWII." she answered, knowing that it wasn't the most exciting topic but she knew what she wanted to write about and where to find any research materials. Thats all that really mattered to her. The faster she could get it done the better. Afterall with a two year old at home she needed all the time she could get. She wasn't sure why but she had a feeling that he didn't normally make friends randomly. He seemed as though he would be very selevtive of who he would even speak to.
"So, what do you do for fun around here?" he asked, of course he was curious. Who wouldn't be in a new town. She thought for a minute and shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't really do much now besides school and occassionally work on the weekends" she answered. "But there are a couple of theaters, some night clubs outside the town when you get closer to the city, they check id's but they can't tell the fake ones apart from the real ones, every now and then a group gets together to throw a wild party in this empty warehouse, they never mean for it to but it always turns into a rave." she said thinking about her life before Andy. She sighed slightly.
"But I'm sure there is more than that." she said.

The blonde tilted his head. He sighed deeply. What was he supposed to do? He couldn’t protect Nicky for too long, or so he thought.
The girl had completely freaked when at some point he had lost consciousness. She had snuck into his room and had tried to wake him, unsuccessfully. When he had finally awoken he had found her asleep next to him, her small hands clutching his, her cheeks tearstained. He had been confused at first, but then caught a glimpse of the clock. He had groaned and had carefully risen to his feet. He really needed something for that damn throbbing in his head. He crept over to his bag and popped some pills to kill the pain. The girl started to stir and opened her eyes. She looked around frantically but smiled when she saw the boy, awake and up. She smiled and jumped out of bed “James” she shrieked and rushed over to him. The boy closed his eyes at the sudden loud noise but smiled catching the girl as she jumped up in his arms.
"Oh, its about the lasting effects of WWI and how that would later influence WWII” the girl’s voice cut of his thoughts. He smiled nodding slightly “aah the pact of Versailles” he nodded. He had come to the conclusion that this had been the main cause of WW2. That, and the major credit crash of the 30ties. It had given Hitler and his party the opportunity to rile up the Germans and well, to attempt to build his soo called ‘Drittes reich’ but hey, what goes up, must eventually come down, don’t it? He looked over “you still have to do much?” he asked running a hand through his hair. He yawned… he hadn’t had much sleep in well… he really couldn’t remember the last time he’d had a good night sleep.

The teen smiled… “so… you used to in the past then?” he asked as listened to what she had said “maybe you just need to re-find that part of yourself then…” he suggested. If it was up to him, he’d never be home. He loved strolling the town, see where the party was.. but that might have something to do with the hellhole that was his ‘home’. The blondes head no snapped up as a excited voice piped up..
“James!” sounded over the campus and the blonde smiled slightly as the young girl now launched herself in his lap. The boy shook his head “hey there sugar-pop.. shouldn’t you be in school??” he inquired an eyebrow raised. The girl nodded “I should… but we had a break and I so you go in here this morning” she explained now noticing the other girl smiling shyly.
“Hello…” she greeted softly her eyes cast downward slightly biting her bottom lip.

She saw him smile before he replied "so...you used to in the past then?" and then added "maybe you just need to re-find that part of yourself then..." She looked up at him for a moment getting lost in thought again about the good ole days, if you could call them that. Staying out late, going to party after party, she never did par take of the drugs but she did enjoy a good drink. She hadn't thought about how much she missed them until this very moment, upon the suggestion that she should re find her past self. She frowned at the thought of leaving Andy home at night so she could go out and drink.
"I think my past self belongs back there on its own" she siad after a minute closing her notebook not really feeling the need to work on her paper anymore at the moment. Her head shot up when she heard someone call his name, he was knew and as far as she knew that only other person he had spoken to was her. But this voice sounded younger and when she saw the small blonde girl running across the grounds toward him she smiled to herself thinking of Andy, when he was steady on his feet he would run like the wind for all of two minutes then fall over and get up and do it all over again.
"Hey there" she said in reply to the little girl when she spoke to her. She was a beautiful little girl, but the motherly side of Christine was starting to take over, as cute as it was that she wanted to come see James, she needed to be in school. "What grade are you in hun?" she asked with a smile not moving from her spot on the grass.

“I think my past self belongs back there on it’s own” she replied closing her notebook. The blonde smiled slightly nodding “your loss sweetheart” he shrugged before Nicky threw herself in his lap.
Nicole Janine Tina Garner, alias Nicky, buried her face in the boy’s chest blushing when the other girl greeted her. The blonde boy shook his head ruffling the girl’s hair. The girl bit her bottom lip looking up ever so slightly “I’m Nicky” she introduced herself. She smiled slightly “I’m in the second grade” she answered softly, tilting her head so that she was looking up at the blonde boy. She had heard the screams again last night, followed but loud thuds and cursing. She had wondered what he had done this time. Had he snuck out again? Why couldn’t he just stay home to avoid getting hurt?
She didn’t yet understand that it didn’t matter. That no matter what, the man would always find something to punish the boy for and well, James just didn’t really give a damn anymore. The teen looked at the tiny thing in his lap and wrapped an arm around her as she buried her face in him. She was so shy. Maybe he should just take her with him when he would be allowed to leave that hellhole that had been his home for the past 8 years, he really hoped he could spare her most of the pain and hurt he had been through. She didn’t deserve this after already having lost her parents in a car accident. The girl settled back against him again and he smiled down at the small blond head resting against his chest.
“What time do you have to be at school again?” he asked the girl. She needed to go to school if she was ever going to experience her full potential. He knew that things were too late for him. He was never going to amount to anything, and he had made peace with that a long time ago, that however didn’t mean she had to deal with the same thing now did it?
The girl was unaware of this taking the boys arm twisting it slightly so she could see his watch “In about 15 minutes” she shrugged brushing some of her hair out of her face as she made no move to get up or do anything resembling going back to school. The teen shook his head, but let it be for now, he’d take her back in 10 minutes… that should be fine, now shouldn’t it.
((sooo sorry this is soo crap, but my friend is here and I kind of had to rush this… again my apologies.))
